Before you start
Delegation (staking) lets you earn CSPR rewards by supporting a validator, without running a node yourself. You stay in full control: your tokens never leave your account, and HC-CSPR can never move them.
You need:
- A Casper account — the Casper Wallet browser extension or a Ledger device with the Casper app.
- At least 500 CSPR to delegate, plus some extra CSPR to pay the 2.5 CSPR transaction fee now — and again later when you undelegate.
- The HC-CSPR public key:
0182d06e520d35d4e78d6f7647e83ec346a9240716a9d778a4bc85194070128167
Always verify the public key. HC-CSPR's key starts with 0182d06e and ends with 28167. Scam sites copy validator names — the key is what counts.
Delegate with the Casper Wallet
Install the wallet
Install the Casper Wallet from casperwallet.io, create a new wallet and store the secret recovery phrase offline. Never share it with anyone — HC-CSPR will never ask for it.
Fund your account
Withdraw CSPR from an exchange to your account's public key, or buy CSPR directly on CSPR.live. See Funding Mainnet Accounts.
Open HC-CSPR on CSPR.live
Open the HC-CSPR validator page and click Connect (top right) to connect your Casper Wallet.
Click “Delegate”
The validator is pre-selected. Enter the amount (at least 500 CSPR) and leave a few CSPR in your account for fees.
Review & sign
Check that the validator key matches, confirm, and sign the transaction in the wallet pop-up. The transaction is final within about a minute.

Delegate with a Ledger
A Ledger keeps your private key on the hardware device — the most secure way to stake larger amounts.
- Install the Casper app on your Ledger via Ledger Live and open it.
- On CSPR.live, choose Connect → Ledger and select your account.
- Open the HC-CSPR validator page, click Delegate and enter your amount.
- Verify the transaction details on the Ledger screen and approve.

Delegate with the command line
Advanced users can delegate with casper-client by calling the delegate entry point of the system auction contract. You will need your secret key file, the validator key above and the amount in motes (1 CSPR = 1,000,000,000 motes; 500 CSPR = 500000000000).
Because CLI flags change between client versions (Casper 2.0 introduced put-transaction), please follow the official, version-specific instructions:
Never paste your secret key into a website. CLI delegation is signed locally on your machine.
After delegating
- Activation: your stake joins the validator's weight with the next auction cycle.
- First rewards: usually visible after 2–3 eras (up to ~6 hours) in the Rewards tab of your account on CSPR.live.
- Compounding: rewards are not sent to your wallet balance — they are added to your delegated stake every era and start earning themselves.
- Fluctuation is normal: since Casper 2.0, rewards are calculated per validator from block proposals and finality signatures, so they can vary from era to era (the docs mention up to ~20% on mid-size validators).

Undelegate
You can undelegate part or all of your stake at any time from your account page on CSPR.live (Undelegate button) — see Undelegating tokens.
- Unbonding takes 7 eras (~14 hours). During this time the tokens earn no rewards and cannot be transferred.
- After unbonding, the CSPR return to your liquid balance automatically — no second transaction needed.
- If the remaining delegation would fall below the validator's minimum (500 CSPR or more), the entire delegation is undelegated automatically.
Redelegate
Want to move stake from another validator to HC-CSPR? Use redelegate: one transaction that unbonds from the old validator and delegates to the new one after the unbonding delay. It costs 2.5 CSPR and the 500 CSPR minimum applies. If the target validator becomes inactive before the redelegation completes, the tokens are returned to you.

Safety checklist
- Use only the official sites:
cspr.live,casperwallet.io,docs.casper.network. - Compare the validator public key character by character before signing.
- Never share your recovery phrase or secret key — no validator, support agent or website needs it.
- Keep enough liquid CSPR to pay the undelegation fee later.
- Check your validator from time to time: active status, performance and fee.
- Spread larger amounts over several validators if you want to support decentralization.
