Everything delegators ask about staking CSPR, rewards, risks and HC-CSPR — in one place.

Staking basics

What is staking (delegation) on Casper?

Delegation lets you support a validator with your CSPR and earn a share of the network's staking rewards without running a node yourself. Your tokens stay in your own account; they are bonded in the protocol's auction contract and count toward the validator's weight.

Does HC-CSPR get access to my CSPR?

No. Delegation is 100% non-custodial. HC-CSPR can never move, spend or withdraw your tokens. Only you — with your own keys — can undelegate.

What is the minimum amount I can stake?

The protocol minimum is 500 CSPR since Casper 2.0. Validators may set a higher minimum. You also need a few extra CSPR to pay the 2.5 CSPR transaction fee.

Is there a maximum?

There is no protocol-wide maximum per delegator, but validators can configure a maximum delegation amount. Each validator can have up to 1,200 delegators.

Is there a lock-up period?

There is no lock-up while staking — you can undelegate any time. After undelegating, the tokens go through an unbonding period of 7 eras (about 14 hours) before they are liquid again.

Which wallets can I use?

The Casper Wallet browser extension and Ledger hardware wallets are both supported on CSPR.live. Advanced users can also delegate with casper-client from the command line.

Rewards

How often do I receive rewards?

Every era, which is about every 2 hours — roughly 12 times per day.

When will I see my first rewards?

Typically after 2–3 eras (up to about 6 hours) after your delegation transaction.

Where do my rewards go?

Rewards are not sent to your wallet balance. They are added to your delegated stake automatically, so they compound and start earning rewards themselves. You can see them in the Rewards tab of your account on CSPR.live.

How much can I earn?

It depends on total network stake, issuance, the validator's commission and its performance. The calculator on our homepage uses the live network yield, HC-CSPR's current fee and its measured 30-day performance to give you a realistic estimate.

Why do my rewards differ from era to era?

Since Casper 2.0 (Zug consensus), rewards are calculated individually per validator from block proposals and finality signatures. This makes rewards fluctuate by design — the official docs mention variations of up to ~20% per era on mid to large validators. Over time the average is what counts.

Do I need to claim or re-stake rewards?

No. Compounding happens automatically every era. There is nothing to claim.

HC-CSPR commission

Why does HC-CSPR charge 10% commission?

Because sustainable, reliable operation costs money and time. HC-CSPR has been operated for years on its own dedicated, self-hosted hardware that is personally maintained, monitored and upgraded on time. Under Zug, performance directly drives your rewards, so a reliable node with a 10% fee can earn you as much or more than a cheaper but less reliable one.

Is the 10% taken from my staked CSPR?

No. The commission applies only to the staking rewards your delegation earns. Your principal is never touched. With a 10% fee, 90% of your rewards are yours.

Can the commission change?

Validators can change their commission on-chain. Any change is publicly visible on CSPR.live and on this site's live dashboard, which always shows the current value straight from the chain.

Why not choose a 0% validator?

A 0% validator must finance hardware, monitoring and upgrades some other way — or it raises its fee later. Use the fee-vs-performance tool on our homepage to see how much performance differences matter with live numbers.

Safety & risks

Can I lose my staked CSPR?

Slashing is currently not enabled on Casper Mainnet, and there are no plans to enable it in the near future. If a validator is evicted for poor behaviour, delegators simply earn no rewards during that period. If slashing were ever enabled through a governance vote, delegated tokens could be at risk.

What happens if HC-CSPR goes offline?

Your tokens remain safe in your account. A validator that misses blocks or signatures earns fewer rewards, and its delegators earn less too. If a validator is evicted, rewards stop until it rejoins — you can undelegate or redelegate at any time.

What are the risks of staking?

The main risks are the CSPR price (which can fall), variable rewards, the 14-hour unbonding delay during which tokens cannot be sold, and validator under-performance. Staking does not protect against market risk.

How do I avoid scams?

Use only cspr.live, casperwallet.io and docs.casper.network, verify the validator public key before signing, and never share your recovery phrase or secret key with anyone. HC-CSPR will never ask for it.

Undelegating & moving stake

How do I undelegate?

Open your account on CSPR.live, select your delegation to HC-CSPR and click Undelegate. Sign the transaction (2.5 CSPR fee). After 7 eras (~14 hours) the tokens are back in your liquid balance automatically.

What is redelegation?

Redelegation moves stake from one validator to another in a single transaction. It costs 2.5 CSPR and the 500 CSPR minimum applies. The unbonding delay still applies before the stake becomes active with the new validator.

What if my remaining stake falls below the minimum?

If a partial undelegation would leave less than the validator's minimum (500 CSPR or more), the whole delegation is undelegated automatically.

Do I earn rewards while unbonding?

No. During the 7-era unbonding period your tokens neither earn rewards nor can be transferred.

About HC-CSPR

Who runs HC-CSPR?

HC-CSPR is an independent validator operated by a single, dedicated operator in Switzerland who has been running Casper nodes for years.

Where is the validator hosted?

On dedicated hardware that the operator hosts and maintains personally in Switzerland — not on a shared cloud instance.

How can I verify HC-CSPR's performance?

Everything is on-chain. Check the HC-CSPR page on CSPR.live, or the live dashboard on this site, which pulls the data directly from the Casper blockchain via CSPR.cloud.

How do I contact the operator?

Write to info@hc-cspr.ch. You will get an answer from the operator personally.

What is HC-CSPR's public key?

0182d06e520d35d4e78d6f7647e83ec346a9240716a9d778a4bc85194070128167
